Waiting on Wednesday is a feature hosted by Breaking The Spine where I talk about books that I am eagerly anticipating!
This week, my WoW pick is…..

Series: Rebel of the Sands #1
Published by Penguin on March 8, 2016
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Goodreads
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there's nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can't wait to escape from.
Destined to wind up "wed or dead," Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she'd gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan's army, with a fugitive who's wanted for treason. And she'd never have predicted she'd fall in love with him...or that he'd help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.
My WoW this week is a fantasy that many of my bookish friends have been talking (ok, raving) about on social media. What do you think?
i have this one on my list too. Great pick. Love the cover too.
Added this last week! Great pick!
I’m so obsessed with this cover! It’s so STRIKING. And the story sounds amazing too!
I love this cover! And the synopsis sounds so good. . . until the last line. Is it just the books I’ve read lately or does it seem like tons of books have the whole “finding the truth to who {insert character} really is?” royalty, genies, psychics, vampires, warriors, magicians, THE CHOSEN ONE . . . Maybe this one will be so good I won’t care Amani didn’t know she was a {insert amazing lineage} until a guy waltzes into her life and tells her!
I see what’s you’re saying, but to be fair, that’s The Hero’s Journey. It’s not just YA…it’s Homer, Star Wars, and countless other stories.
Very true. . . it’s a device that’s been around forever. I think I am tired of the same formula with little variance in how it unfolds and resolves itself. Can’t wait to hear what you think of this one when you get to read it!
I totally get that, and you’re right….it is used A LOT. 🙂
New to me but–hope that you get a chance to read it soon. Happy reading and Happy New Years.
What a gorgeous cover! Definitely want to read this one, too!

I’ve been on the fence with this one (too many 2016 books, I can’t possibly read them all), but it sounds soo interesting!
Haha, yeah, I’ve been seeing this one a lot and I’m super excited!! It sounds amazing 😀
