My favorite banned books are the hunger games and catcher in the rye. But there are lots of great books that have been banned.

  2. Tammy

The Story Of Ferdinand, favorite childhood book but was banned by Hitler because it was about a bull who didn’t want to fight.

I don’t think I’ve read a banned book before! :O But I know I would like to. One of the one’s I’m most looking forward to reading is Eleanor & Park only because it’s the most recent banned book I’ve heard about 🙂

  4. I really can’t say which is my favorite banned book…. Mostly because I’m sure I have favorite books that I have no idea have been challanged/banned. However, I do like the Harry Potter books and there are a lot of great banned classics, like One Flew Over the Cocoo’s Nest, Animal Farm and so on…

It’s so hard for me to pick my favorite – I love so many of them; To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, Looking for Alaska, Harry Potter. I’m even a rebel and teach 13 Reasons Why to my freshmen.

I looked at the 2012 list and saw that The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls was on it. I like all of her books, including The Glass Castle!

I haven’t looked at the complete list yet…but I love the Hunger Games and The Catcher in The Rye…
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I would have to go with either The Bell Jar and Fahrenheit 451, awesome reads. Thanks for a giveaway! 🙂

  9. Marijana Sitar

My favorite banned books are The Perks of being a Wallflower, and Ender’s Game. :]
Thanks so much for the giveaway!

I really like The Catcher in the Rye. I remember reading it in 9th grade and wondering why I didn’t read it sooner.

Asking me to pick a favorite banned book is like asking me to pick a favorite child. As a Potterhead, I feel like I should be required to say Harry Potter, but I have quite the passion for To Kill a Mockingbird, overplayed as that might be. Oh and The Color Purple – all of my emotions for The Color Purple.

My favorite banned book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The series is made even more special to me by the fact that I was not allowed to read HP when I was young, so I hid in the library or at friends’ houses to read them. I’ve never been more glad I broke a rule.

I don’t know if I can choose just one, but I’m a big fan of Toni Morrison and Mark Twain, and I loved Thirteen Reasons Why!

  14. My three favorite books of all time (on most days, anyway) are The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Catcher in the Rye, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Coincidentally (or perhaps not?) these three also appear on the frequently banned/challenged lists year after year. It’s a sad, sad situation.

My favorite banned book is a toss up between the Harry Potter series and anything written by Stephen King

don’t know how many i’ve read are on whatever list, and don’t care if someone banned it I’ll read what i like, i liked the harry potters

  17. Oy, I love a lot of banned books. The Hunger Games was good. Looking for Alaska was wonderful too. I really loved Slaughterhouse-Five and Fahrenheit 451.

  18. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve read any D: The fact that books are still banned today came as a surprise to me not so long ago, actually. Haven’t heard of it happening here in Estonia… :p

There are so many great ones. I’d say To Kill a Mockingbird, Animal Farm, Catch 22, The Handmaid’s Tale…So many!

There are so many books on the banned or challenged list that I have read and thoroughly enjoyed. It would take too long to name them all. Beloved, Brave New World, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Catcher in the Rye, The Color Purple, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, The Bluest Eye, Of Mice and Men, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Outsiders, Native Son, Lord of the Flies, Pillars of the Earth, Lord of the Rings, Go Tell it on the Mountain..and the list goes on. I have read at least 40 of the books on the classics banned list.
