Speechless Giveaway!

It’s no secret that I am a big Hannah Harrington fan.  Her latest book, Speechless, centers around the power that words have to destroy and the power to heal.  Here’s a little bit about the book:

Speechless
Author: Hannah Harrington
Genre: Young Adult
Format: ebook
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: 8-28-12
Everyone knows that Chelsea Knot can’t keep a secret
Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast—and nearly got someone killed. Now Chelsea has taken a vow of silence—to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting anyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets is hard, not speaking up when she’s ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse. But there’s strength in silence, and in the new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way—people she never noticed before; a boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she’s done. If only she can forgive herself. – Goodreads

Harlequin Teen has teamed up with Love is Louder to help spread the word that love is louder than hate.  I think that the power of SPEECHLESS is its resonance with the experiences of so many teens and adults.  We have all been picked on at one time or another but many teens feel they have nowhere to go for help when getting picked on becomes something more damaging.   Organizations like The Jed Foundation and Love is Louder give young people a place to go when they feel that no one else is listening.

Love is Louder was started by The Jed Foundation, MTV and Brittany Snow to support anyone feeling mistreated, misunderstood or alone. It’s hundreds of thousands of people just like you who have turned this idea into a movement.  A movement of all types of people who have come together to raise the volume around the message that love and support are louder than any internal or external voice that brings us down.

Individuals, communities, schools and organizations have embraced Love is Louder as a way to address with issues like bullying, negative self-image, discrimination, loneliness and depression.  Even as we work to stop negative words and actions that hurt us, we can strengthen our abilities to cope with hard times, focus on the positive, support the people around us and reach out for help if we need it. – From the Love is Louder website

  1. I can’t believe all of the support that there is out there for teens now. It’s so wonderful that they now have somewhere to turn and people to go to.
Thank you so much for this giveaway and the wonderful post!

  2. I absolutely LOVED Saving June, it was one of my favorite reads last year. I can’t wait to get my hands on Speechless, it looks just as fantastic and I have seen a ton of glowing reviews for it. Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy!

  3. What a great cause! I fully support movements that make people aware of the words they use and how it influences how they and others see the world. Now if only we can get those types of positive change in the media, so it’s modeled for teens and not just talked about.

I’m so, so excited to read this book! I loved SAVING JUNE so much, and I have high hopes for SPEECHLESS (and judging by the reviews I’ve seen, I won’t be disappointed in the least). Thanks for the giveaway, and for mentioning Love is Louder. What a fabulous organization 🙂

  5. This organization sounds fantastic. I like that Harlequin Teen teamed up with them, that’s such a fantastic idea. I’m really looking forward to Speechless too. It sounds like such a different idea.

The attitude has definitely change for bullying. Back when I was going up, the attitude was “This is just a phase. Let them work it out.”.

Now bullying will not be tolerated. There are more support group for victims of bullying.
