This week The Broke and the Bookish is hosting a top ten about sequels! I find that sequels are more common in the Young Adult genre, but there are a few thrown in that aren’t. I marked the YA books in case you wondered about it. These are books that I have read this year and whose story and characters really grabbed my attention.
Pandemonium (Delirium #2) by Lauren Oliver (Young Adult)
Delirium told the story of a society that viewed love as a curable disease. In this sequel, we will keep following Lena’s story as she escapes to the Wilds. The first book was very exciting and very tense. I have heard a few advanced readers talking about how dark Pandemonium is, so I am looking forward to where Lena’s character is taken in her journey.
Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth (Young Adult)
When we left Tris and Tobias (Four) they were on a train with a few survivors, some key information and no idea where to go next. Divergent kept me engaged the entire book and I think this is the book that I am most looking forward to in 2012.
Hourglass #2 (Sequel untitled) by Myra McEntire (Young Adult)
There isn’t a lot of info on this sequel, but I know from Twitter that the author is hard at work on edits. The first books was a cool, sci-fi time travel story and I am looking forward to reading more.
A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2) by Beth Revis (Young Adult)
The Godspeed is gradually slowing down with a ship full of cryogenically frozen essential personnel and “awake” passengers that have just found out that they have been deceived for hundreds of years. This is sci-fi at its best and I know that the second book will deliver.
Faithful Place (Dublin Murder Squad #3) by Tana French
This book is already out, but is on my TBR list. The first two in the series (In The Woods and The Likeness) were pure beauty. I cannot say enough good things about this series and if you are a mystery fan at all, you should read these books immediately.
Becoming Marie Antoinette #2 by Juliet Grey
The first in this historical fiction series used detailed research to construct a believable imagining of Marie Antoinette’s early life. It was interesting and enjoyable. Since we all know that her life will only get more complicated, I think the second book will be just as good.
Black Heart (Curse Workers #3) by Holly Black (Young Adult)
I am very confident that the third book in the Curse Worker series will be just as original and utterly captivating as the first two. I cannot wait to enter Cassel’s bleak world once again.
Dreamless (Starcrossed #2) by Josephine Angelini (Young Adult)
The first book was a very good “what if?” involving the Greek Gods. It ended on such a bittersweet note that I know I will be first in line on release day.
The Magician King – by Lev Grossman
This book is already released and on my TBR list. Quentin is asked to leave his mediocre existence and take the throne in Fillory. The Magicians was absorbing and it looks like the sequel will be, as well.
Crossed (Matched #2) by Allie Condie (Young Adult)
The adventure continues with Cassia, Ky and Xander as The Society keeps secrets from its citizens and Cassia tries to find out what happened to Ky.
Have you started reading a series this year? What are you looking forward to reading?

There are a few books on your sequel list…that I need to read the first ones first! Great list!
Hopping By…Here’s my Answer!
Ohh your list is great! So many great sequels on it for sure. I’ve got Pandemonium, Insurgent, and A Million Suns on my list too. The worst thing about sequels is waiting for the release dates, especially when the first books have major cliffhangers.
