Stacking The Shelves: 2015 In Review

Another blogging year has come and gone.  Although I took the last two weeks off, I still came home to some books on my doorstep:

Thank you, Tor, Random House, Algonquin, and St.Martin’s!

I always take a moment to reflect on my year of blogging and it’s been a typical year, in many ways. There was some drama, some great books, some not-so-great-books, but I was always glad to be a book blogger.  I love the blogging community and the publishers and authors that I have had the privledge to meet and work with on this crazy book roller coaster. The love of books is a strong bond and I’m fortunate to work with people who dedicate their lives to spreading that love.

I am not an engineer, but when you work with engineers for long enough, their love of data starts to get to you, and so one of my favorite things is to break down my reading over the year.

I read 208 books in 2015!  My goal was 205, so I was pretty happy with my outcome.  I usually just break everything down into broad categories.

Young Adult: 59%
Romance (adult): 28%
Fiction (adult, non-romance): 9%
Graphic Novels and Middle Grade: 4%

I also listened to 9 audio books, but those were counted by their genre.  I don’t know if I really have any goals for the type of reading I’d like to do, other than perhaps trying to give those “quieter” books more of a voice.

So, there you have it!  I hoe everyone had a great 2015 and it you didn’t, I hope 2016 holds nothing but good things for you!  Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I seem to have a similar breakdown in reading genres as you. Although, I love YA the best, I plan on reading more adult fiction in the new year. Truthwitch looks like it will be a good one this month. Enjoy.

  2. 209 books?! That’s awesome, Kate! I only read half the number you read and surprisingly enough, I read a lot more YA than last year. But audiobooks, though 🙂 iI’m trying to go back to my roots and read more physical books this year.
