This is a feature that was started by Sara at Forever 17 Books after she read this babble article. I decided to join in because I love getting the innocent and oh so insightful opinion of kids. My 4 year old son and 3 year old daughter took a look at the cover of one of my favorites. I asked them to look at the cover and tell me what they thought the book was about.
Daughter (age 3): This is about a big people with green on his tummy. Him doesn’t have any clothes and you can’t see his eyes. He throws everything.
Son (age 4): This story is about a big man and he destroys the whole world. He takes people out of their houses with his big hands. He drew on himself and became a bad guy, then he became a big, giant bad guy.
Daughter opted out of drawing the cover, but here is Son’s cover art for City of Bones:
(Kinda funny how my son is basically describing Sebastian/Jonathan, hmmm?)
Would you like to join in? All you need is a kid (your own or a nice/nephew/cousin/friend) a book and some paper and crayons! More details here.

Hahaha, yeah, I definitely thought of Sebastion/Johnathan when reading your son’s description. Quite perceptive, he is. 😉
I love that they both think he’s a giant and that he’s the bad guy. 🙂 “He throws everything.” Soooo cute!
I am laughing so hard at their descriptions! It is exactly what it looks like too, when you think about it! They did such a great job and I love the picture! Very cute. 🙂

I love this post. I don’t have any little ones, but it was a sweet stop to come here and read the quotes from your son and daughter. “He drew on himself and became a bad guy”. Holy cuteness!
This post was amazing! Thanks for sharing.
OMG, I love this idea! I wish Small Fry had more words so he could do this with me. I think his assessment right now would be “banana” and “all done”. LOL.
