Feature and Follow Friday

Welcome to another Feature and Follow Friday hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.  It’s been really crazy with grad school, so I haven’t done this in a while, but I always love finding new blogs, so I’m baaaaack!

This week’s featured blogs are  The Talking Teacup and The Romanceaholic.  Congrats!

This week’s question:

Have you ever bought a book because of a bad review?

No, I can’t say that I have.  If I read a negative review and it’s because the reviewer perhaps didn’t relate to the characters or was not a usual reader of that genre, I might go ahead an read the book.  However, if the negative review is because of poor writing, world building or any other important story element, then I probably wouldn’t.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I still love GFC followers, but I am equally appreciative of RSS subscribers and Networked Blogs followers.  Let me know and I will make sure I follow back. Have a great weekend!

  1. I feel the same way. I can’t let a negative review sway my decision to, or not to, read a book. Everyone’s opinions are different.

  2. I totally agree with your answers! Even if there is a negative review on a book but I’m interested to read the book, I still want to give the book a try!

Thank you for stopping by my FF!

  3. I really like your answer! I totally agree, if it just isn’t their taste in books I’ll give it a try but if it’s something major… then probably not!

New Follower via Networked Blogs & GFC!!! I love your blog btw 😀

I haven’t bought one because of a bad review, but I’ve definitely read them. A great review can make me want the book and a bad review has no real effect on my desire to read it.

  5. True. If the rating is negative because of things I don#t like in books either, I’ll most likely not read them, but tastes differ, so most of the times.. *g*

  6. Yup, I agree. I actually can’t think of a reason why a bad review should make me read a book. A single bad one might not turn me off the book, but it won’t trigger my excitement for it, I guess 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my FF, made sure to follow you ack (via RSS)

  7. I never thought about whether or not the reviewer just doesn’t relate rather than just bad in general in a bad review. 😮
    I’m a new follower via GFC. ^^
