I’ve had a lot of people ask me for book recommendations for their own reading list, as well as books that might make good gifts. I split off Young Adult from Fiction and Memoir because the list of YA books was so long! I chose books that really stayed with me after I read them along with some honorable mentions that I also really enjoyed. Although it’s not quite the end of the year and there were many books that I didn’t get a chance to read, this was my humble idea of some fantastic books from 2011. In no particular order….
Prized by Caragh O’Brien (Birthmarked #2)
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare (The Infernal Devices #2)
Saving June by Hannah Harrington
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
You Are My Only by Beth Kephart
Red Glove by Holly Black (Curse Workers #2)
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa (Iron Fey #4)
Divergent by Veronica Roth
City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #4)
The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Honorable Mentions:
Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake
The Girl Of Fire And Thorns by Rae Carson
Hourglass by Myra McEntire
Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally
How To Save A Life by Sara Zarr
The Mephisto Covenant by Trinity Faegen
The Sweetest Thing by Christine Mandelski
I leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Cassandra Clare. Not only can she write some dramatic stories, but her writing is also hilarious. This was a comment she made on a Tumblr post that I thought really put my YA reading experience into words….
“Well, that’s what books are for. Books are good for making you think, propping up wobbly table legs, and giving everyone unrealistic expectations in men.” Cassandra Clare
Tomorrow I will be interviewing Caragh O’Brien, author of Prized and Birthmarked!

I am SO glad you posted this list! I love hearing new suggestions.
Love the quote too…so true, so true. My poor husband, lol.
I’m looking forward to your giveaway!
Kate-thanks for sharing your list! Mine is coming up this week too. I’m doing two titles each day. Mine has Non-Fiction, adult lit and Graphic Novels mixed in. I’m amazed that even reading 100 books this year, I haven’t read a single one of your favorites! There is so much great stuff out there!
