Welcome to the ALA 2013 edition of Remainders!

It just so happened that my family vacation took place while ALA Annual was in Chicago, which just so happens to be my husband’s home town.  I mean, how could I not go??  On Friday there was a get together of bloggers, librarians and authors for a little cocktail hour. One of the highlights of the night was getting to meet the wonderful Christa Desir, whose book, Fault Line, is coming out this fall.

This isn’t the last you will hear me talk about Christa and her powerful, amazing book, so stay tuned!

I also got to hang out with these smart, talented and lovely bloggers!

The convention floor was extremely crowded.  It was a bit like a cattle call, but everyone was very well behaved, from what I witnessed.  I stood in a crazy long line for an ARC of Cress by Marissa Meyer, but everyone was very calm and we did not mind waiting!  I was able to get several books signed, which is one of the great things about going to ALA –

Here are the books that I am most excited about!

It was a great day and by the end of it I was exhausted and happy.  It was wonderful to spend time with so many people that are dedicated to spreading the word about books and the importance of libraries.  Even if you aren’t a librarian, you can still join the ALA!  It’s an organization that lobbies for library funding, defends teachers, librarians and schools against book banning, and generally fights for Team Good.  Go here for more information about joining the ALA.

Have a great week, everyone!  Happy Reading!

  2. HOORAY FOR ALA! You’re incredibly lucky to have gotten a Cress ARC – it’s one of my most anticipated reads. Out of the books you’ve gotten, I’m excited for you to read Crown of Midnight (!!!!!) and The Screaming Staircase (which I just finished yesterday, and thought was fantastic).

  3. Hi there! I stood in line with you at ALA and we exchanged cards. Thought I’d stop by and follow your lovely blog. I agree that everyone was extremely well behaved at ALA. It was an amazing experience! I scored Cress as well. *high five*

  4. Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to
be on the web the simplest factor to keep in mind of.

I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while other folks think about issues that
they plainly do not recognise about. You controlled to hit
the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side effect ,
people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
    Thanks

  5. Are you commencing to get the photo that
it is critical to look and feel at the knowledge point payout whenever you are obtaining.
The ratios have very little bearing on each other,
and are specifically made to be treated as ‘trade-offs’.
Gifts can be sold for coins, so early on in the game sell them so you can plow
and plant additional crops, when you are happy with the size of your farm keep some of them to ornament your farm, you can always sell them after a week or two when you don’t like looking at them
    anymore.

  6. All of these attributes make the game perfect for
picnics or as a family reunion game. Game Tester job openings are abundant currently, because the
fact that gaming market is thriving. Six interceptions in a game, though, is not enough to make this list.

  7. Woman of Alien…

Excellent do the job you might have done, this page is admittedly amazing with wonderful details. Time is God’s method of trying to keep almost everything from taking place simultaneously….

  8. certainly like your web site but you need to test the spelling on several of your posts.
A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it
very bothersome to inform the reality however I will certainly come
    back again.
