2016 Blogging Goals

Welcome to my first Monthly Dispatch of 2016!  I love setting blogging goals because I am one of those people who crave structure, and goals really help me with my blogging.  This month’s dispatch will mostly be about said goals, plus a new idea to help reach out to new bloggers.

So, without further ado, here are my goals for this year:

1. Be more active in the book blogging community – comment more, interact on social media more, don’t just lurk (I am a huge lurker)

2. Put all of my reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.  (This will probably take the whole year.)

3. Finish reformatting my old reviews

4. Do more with SEO – I don’t want to get obsessed with stats, but I could do better, I know.

5. Send reviews to publishers on a monthly basis

6. Do more author interviews – I did this a lot when I started out and for some reason, I got away from it.

7. Feature more debut authors – it’s tough to be the new guy/gal.  I’m not the most famous blogger, but every little bit helps, right?

This brings me to my new idea! As a part of my goal to be more active in the book blogging community, I was kicking around a monthly (or bi-monthly) feature idea.

My idea is for a feature that would introduce a new blogger who has been blogging for one year or less. (This is open to blogging teams, as well.)  We’ll get to know a little bit about them, but then they get to ask us questions.  Who is us?  We are!  Meaning, those of us who have been blogging for more than one year, or maybe have some insight into their question; maybe it’s about ARCs, maybe it’s about connecting with others, or maybe they just need some feedback.  Whatever their question, I want to provide a safe place to ask bloggers with a little more experience.  Now, my biggest fear is that someone is already doing this and I will be stepping on toes.  I know that there are bloggers that feature other bloggers, but as I have been searching, I haven’t found anything quite like my idea.  So, if you know of anything that sounds like this (meaning, it’s specifically for new bloggers) please let me know.

If you are a new blogger and you would like to be featured, please leave a way for me to contact you in the comments and I’ll be in touch!

So, do you make blogging goals? If so, what are they?

Thanks for stopping by!

Kate

  1. My gosls are going to be invorporsted with my Top Ten Resolution post on Tuesday but I have to say that we have similar goals, Kate! I’ve been a huge lurker for a few years and so being more active in the community is one of them.

I love your new feature! I’m not sure I’ve seen anything like this yet. I’ve only seen bloggers who feature other bloggers regardless of length in blogging.

  2. Oh, I really like your new idea, Kate. I haven’t seen anything specifically like that so I think you’re good. I like that the new bloggers can also ask questions. Very handy!

I do have some blogging goals for the new year. I want to find new blogs and comment more – I already comment back if anyone comments on my blog and I have a list of blogs I try and regularly visit, but there are SO many other people out there. I want to branch out!

  3. Your goals are great! Good luck on achieving them! This is, my main goals are to read more than 70 books and to post as much as I can! And be active on social media Have a great day!

  4. I have tendency to sometimes lurk as well. When I get busy I like to read but have a tendency to not comment even though I really like what a blogger is saying, I am just pressed for time. So I would like to comment more. Great goals 🙂

  5. Ahhhh, I love this idea, especially with a few-month-old baby blog – would love to chat about that opportunity (email is plotlined@gmail.com).

As far as blogging goals, I’m attempting to make my blog as sustainable as possible and not get burnt out very quickly. My goal is to maintain balance between my reading/blogging time as well as my writing time as I’m working on my second manuscript, and I don’t want my personal writing projects consumed by blogging. Also, I just want to make friends within the blogging community! Over stats and number of viewers and number of books read and number of reviews written, I think the whole point of blogging (for me, at least) is to further immerse myself in the bookish community. 🙂

  6. One of my goals this year is to be more active in the community too! Commenting may be easier for me than social media – I always feel like I don’t know what to say there haha. As I’ve expressed on Twitter though, I’m definitely interested in participating in your new feature; it sounds like a lot of fun and getting advice from experienced blogger would be fabulous! My email is pavedwithbooks@gmail.com 🙂

    Good luck with your goals!

  7. I just started blogging last month! I have almost no idea what I am doing so I definitely have questions. I’m not really trying to grow into some huge, fantastic blog but I started doing it to get books to review and also to help me to slow down and enjoy the read more.

  8. Ooh, your goals remind me that I need to format some of my old reviews… that will be fun :/ . Your first goal is definitely one that I have too 🙂

I haven’t heard of anything that sounds like what your suggesting so I can’t wait to see how it goes! It’s always fun meeting new bloggers 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful year, Kate!

  9. Your goals are admirable, and certainly achievable, Kate. I’ve been thinking the last several days just what my goals will be for ShelfishlyAddicted, now that I’m getting back into the reviewing/blogging scene, and I hope to put my thoughts down as succinctly as you did.

I am also a lurker and horrible at commenting, even when a post is particularly worthy of a comment, so it seems this is something we both need to work on! 🙂

Your feature idea sounds like a great opportunity for new blogger exposure, and I say go for it! Whether or not someone else features bloggers, you will do it with your own personal spin, and that’s what matters. I’m looking forward to seeing where this feature takes you, and the rest of us who visit your blog! Happy New Year 🙂

  10. As someone who’s been involved in blogging for just less than three weeks, I am still overwhelmed by everything and I haven’t met that many bloggers yet. I think this is a brilliant idea! I’d like nothing more than to make new friends and to explore more of the blogging community.

If you’re looking for interested bloggers to be featured, I volunteer as tribute! My email is shealeairal@gmail.com.
