Stacking the shelves is a weekly feature started by Tynga’s Reviews. You can learn more about it by going here.
Last weekend I didn’t post because I was working at the Texas Teen Book Festival! It was a crazy day, but full of great authors and great books. The highlight was getting to meet Sonia Manzano, who played Maria on Sesame Street.
It was so surreal to meet someone who was a part of my childhood almost every day!
I also moderated a panel with Stephanie Tromley, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Aaron Hartzler, Libba Bray, and Suzanne Young.
If you’re looking for signed books from the festival, Book People in Austin still has lots of stock and they ship worldwide!
I’ve gotten a few things in the mail over the last two weeks –
Thank you, Random House and Harper Collins!
Thank you Harper Collins and First Second!
We’re already in October and you know what that means…..
(I never get tired of that.) It’s time for monthly reading goals!
This month, I decided to put together one big stack of books and read what I feel like reading from that stack. The priority will be tour books, of course, but I am going to try to read more by mood this month. In September, my stack was interrupted by some unexpected reading obligations, but I still managed to read 18 books, which comes to .6 books per day, so not too bad. October and November are not as crazy with releases as September was, but it’s still looking pretty intense. So, we’ll see. Here are my physical books:
On the eBook side, here is my ‘pile’
Orbiting Jupiter Gary D. Schmidt
The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch, Volume One by Daniel Kraus
Ice Like Fire Sara Raasch
The White Rose by Amy Ewing
The Shadow Behind the Stars by Rebecca Hahn
Shifting Time by Kelly Seiler
The Status of All Things by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke
If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins
I hope the weather is starting to get a little cooler where you are.
Enjoy your week!
Wow, that’s definitely quite a pile to read in October! I am off to a better start than what my poor September reading was and I hope it will continue that way! I’m reading Soundless right now and quite loving it!
I’m so glad you had a great time at the festival 🙂 And yay books. September was sooo busy with book releases. The slower pace from here to the end of the year will be much appreciated. 18 books! Wow.
A Madness So Discreet is really great! 😀
I hope that you love all of these! Yes, it’s getting cooler down here in the South. Slowly, but it’s here. Happy reading!
Awesome haul of books. It’s always awesome to meet a childhood hero. I see that you have set a huge goal for October to read. Hope you love all your new books.

Ah, it’s kind of nice when the publisher world slows down for Nov/Dec so we can all get a little caught up!! 😀 Still, lots of gorgeous things this month. Oh wow, how cool to meet Maria!! She is definitely a big part of so many people’s childhoods, including mine!
some good books. I am hoping to listen to madness so discreet. I listened to Dreamland. I liked it but I was a bit disappointed. I really enjoyed Lock and Mori.
Cant wait to see your october reading goals.
Great haul- Darkest Corners looks like it will be a good one. Happy reading and have a great upcoming week.
I can’t wait for A Madness so Discrete, it sounds amazing. I got a copy of Lock and Mori, I can’t wait to start! Enjoy 🙂
I really enjoyed reading your post and have added some books to my wishlist. I am very interested in reading A Madness so Discreet so will be looking out for that one. Also like the sound of Annie and Henry. I’m now following your blog on bloglovin’ so I can read more of your book posts.
