Zara is at the center of an impending apocalypse. True, she’s successfully rescued Nick from Valhalla, but it simply isn’t enough. Evil pixies are ravaging Bedford, and they need much more than one great warrior; they need an army. Zara isn’t sure what her role is anymore. She’s not just fighting for her friends; she’s also a pixie queen. And to align her team of pixies with the humans she loves will be one of her greatest battles yet. Especially since she can’t even reconcile her growing feelings for her pixie king . . .Unexpected turns, surprising revelations, and one utterly satisfying romantic finale make Endure a thrilling end to this series of bestsellers.

Endure packed an impressive amount of action and adventure into a relatively short book.  Nick is back and if you have read the first three books, you can imagine his feelings about Zara becoming a Pixie.  I found this new dynamic to Nick and Zara’s relationship emotional and a little sad.  While she’s dealing with Nick, Zara is also trying to sort out her relationship, if you can call it that, with Astley.  Despite the romantic drama, the group finds out that on top of saving Bedford, Maine, they might also have to save the world.  That’s where the adventure really starts and the taste of Norse mythology we got in book three comes again in full force.  I have to say that I really loved the detail and admire the research that must have gone into this story line.  It really helped build a world that felt very real (and very cold).

Although Endure did have a happy ending, it was hard won and not without loss.  It was clear that although the danger was gone, for now, the group of friends that fought so hard together would never be quite the same again.  I prefer that type of ending to the “tied up in a bow” conclusions, especially when it’s the end of a series.  Overall, I really enjoyed this entire series and appreciate the new take on all things fae.  It is not your typical faery/pixie story at all.  It blended all types of mythology to create a believable world with fantastical elements that will entertain readers and keep those pages turning.
